Each Saturday at 9 AM, Zauderer and a thriving community of volunteers gather for Produce Parties, transforming food distribution into a festive, collaborative event. With between 12,000 and 15,000 pounds of fresh produce donated weekly, these parties serve as a lifeline for nearly 1,500 local households.

A Humble Beginning and Big Dreams
Zauderer’s passion for helping others began while teaching sixth-grade at a Bronx charter school. A poignant moment witnessing a student’s grandmother scavenging for money to feed her family ignited a desire for change. This led to a successful GoFundMe campaign and ultimately the establishment of Grassroots Grocery in 2020. With a mission to expand and serve more families, Zauderer plans to launch the “Deliver Double” campaign, aiming to double the amount of produce distributed each week.
